Zhejiang awards Team NAZA Aylezo with another P2 finish!

2017-06 Challenge-Zhejiang Race 1

After an encouraging race finish in Shanghai a couple of weeks earlier, Team NAZA Aylezo stepped onto Chinese soil once again to compete in the 2017 Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific Round 3 which was held on the newly-completed Zhejiang Circuit.

The team was clearly in high spirits to score some valuable points to elevate themselves in the championship as Zen Low was getting better in understanding the 488 Challenge race car. The Zhejiang International Circuit is the latest addition of international-class racetracks in China and the anti-clockwise circuit features 16 corners over a length of 3.2 kilometers.

Since it was a brand-new circuit, no one had the advantage of being on the home grounds and it was all down to the skills of the drivers to rise among the rest. Encountering tough competition in the Pirelli category since Day 1, the Practice sessions gave Zen ample time to learn the circuit and he managed to nail down a 1:33.899, earning him the P2 spot to start Race 1 in.

Being one of the most scenic circuits he had been to, Zen also described Zhejiang as a technical track with not much places for overtaking chances. Starting on the front row meant that Zen had a clear start and he can keep his focus on chasing the race leader. While Zen did give his best in the race, there was just not enough gap for him to overtake the race leader but he did cross the finishing line to bring home a satisfying P2 finish for Team NAZA Aylezo.

A P2 finish might have put Team NAZA Aylezo on the podium, but that does not mean Zen was content with the results knowing that he could do better. Like in Shanghai, he proceeded to push harder and managed to clock a faster 1:32.177 which had put him not only on the front row once again, but this time in pole position to start Race 2. The systems were all green and Zen was eager to turn the pole into a first victory for the team. However, luck was definitely not on their side this time as the race officials decided to call Race 2 off due to terrible weather conditions.

Keeping their chins up, Team NAZA Aylezo will not be giving up that easily and will be back in action on 7 – 9 July at the Fuji Speedway for Round 4. Team NAZA Aylezo would like to take this opportunity to extend their greatest appreciation to everyone who had helped in making this journey possible, especially NAZA World, Rudy Project, Ecotint, Lifestyle Chiropractic LLP, and Under Armour.
