This is it, the final week of racing for the 2015 season for Zen Low where he will take on the Sepang 12-Hour challenge with Aussie Mitch Gilbert and South African Matthew Swanepoel in Team Fydis Aylezo’s Lamborghini Huracan ST.
The Aylezo crew started day-1 at the circuit yesterday, Tuesday, 8th December, with an early trek to the circuit to deliver equipment and begin set-up. “We are all excited to be part of the race weekend, a 12-hour race will be quite demanding but it will definitely be fun too. Our crew are all hard at work this week and have effectively ‘moved-in’ to the pit where we will be busy setting up and also conducting some night practice later on in the week.”
The two drivers paired with GT regular, Zen, are venturing out from their single-seater races during the off season. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Mitchell Gilbert started karting when he was just 8 years old before progressing to single seaters with Eurocup Renault 2.0, the European F3 last year and GP3 with Carlin Motorsport in 2015. Meanwhile, Formula BMW Asia Cup 2013 Champion, Matthew Swanepoel was signed on to KCMG in 2014 for the Formula Masters China Series before moving on to Arrows Racing for the 2015 season.
“I am looking forward to driving with both Mitch and Matthew, they are both young talented drivers who are also very quick. Originally Bryant Meisner, my partner in Asian Le Mans, was supposed to drive with us but a family obligation has caused him to pull out. So Matthew has taken his place.”
The Sepang 12-hour will begin with practice sessions on Thursday, 10th December before the Qualifying session scheduled for Friday, 11th December at 3pm with the Top-15 Shootout scheduled at 5pm the same day. The 12-hour race will start at noon on Saturday, 12th December, ending at midnight on Sunday, 13th.
In South East Asia, Fox Sports Asia will show large parts of the race live through Fox Sports 3 and Fox Play. A livestream of the race is also available on the official websites www.sepang12hours.com and www.blancpain-gt-series.com.
