After five rounds of intense racing around Asia, team Aylezo Motorsports had finally arrived at Jerez, Spain, for the final round of the 2019 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series. The 2019 season had been a roller coaster of emotions and the team was looking forward in ending the year on a high note.
The season ender presented its own challenges at the 4.428km Circuito de Jerez as the Asia series shared the track with the US series at the same time. And when tensions are high to get the best finish of the season, both Zen Low and Angelo Negro would have to tread carefully on the track to bring the car back in one piece. Giving out all their best in the qualifying sessions, the duo did a great job by placing the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO in P3 for Race 1 and P4 for Race 2.
Race 1 started off with Angelo taking the first stint and although there was not much drama during the start, he did a great job defending the position from the prying eyes at the back, all waiting to snatch the opening if presented. Keeping the position all the way until the pit stop, the crew performed a slick pit stop and Zen jumped into the cockpit to bring the car back into the track.
With the podium now in sight, Zen did all he can to make sure that the position was theirs to keep. Performing yet another brilliant drive, it was not long until the chequered flag was waved and the team was in celebratory mode as Zen crossed the finish line in P3, earning the team another silverware for the year.
Fresh from the excitement from Race 1, the team was in great spirits leading to Race 2, aiming for another spot on the podium. And the aim did not seemed farfetched as Zen performed a stellar drive to bring the car up one position during his stint before passing the wheel to Angelo.
Unfortunately for Race 2, things did not go the way we would like to as a hit from the rear from another car had sent us into a spin. Losing precious time and position, Angelo tried his best to catch up with the field and possibly regain the lost position, but time was not on our side for Race 2 and we had to settle with a P4 for this race.
While it was not the way that the team would like the season to end, a podium finish for Round 6 and Zen grabbing the 3rd place overall in the Am championship made this season worthwhile. Thank you very much to all the fans and friends for the support given throughout the year, and our greatest appreciation to JQK22, J.Cricket, Carlist.my, CarZmo, and Chiropractic LLP in making this journey possible.
