The Aylezo Ecotint Racing team has landed in Zhuhai China as they start their Asian Le Mans Series challenge for 2016/17.
Fresh from his success in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia where he scored six podiums, Zen Low now changes machines to the new Ginetta LMP3, and has his eyes set on winning races.
At the launch of the team’s Ginetta LMP3 in October, Zen also announced his ‘Journey to Le Mans’ campaign whereby he has set the goal of Aylezo Ecotint Racing becoming the first Malaysian race team to compete in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans within three years. To achieve this the team must win the Asian Le Mans Series championship.
Joining Zen this year in the ALMS is fellow Malaysian Weiron Tan. Having established himself as a successful formula racer in American and Europe, this will be the first time Tan races an LMP3 in full force.
Also joining the team is third driver Giacomo Barri. The Italian who also comes from a single-seater background, will be racing with Zen and Weiron for this weekend.
“The start of a new racing championship is always nerve-wracking,” says an anxious team leader Zen Low. “I’ve had very limited time in this new car, and Weiron and Giacomo haven’t had any time in it. So we really only have the first practice session to get to grips with the car. I’m hoping for a good result though and I am very confident that the team and my new team mates will be able to get it together.”
“It’s a very important championship for us and our dream of competing in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and I greatly appreciate the support and encouragement all our partners and fans have been giving us since the launch.”
The first round of the Asian Le Mans Series kicks off this weekend at Zhuhai, China. You can keep up to date with Aylezo Ecotint Racing’s weekend at the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/aylezo and watch the race timing at http://www.asianlemansseries.com.
