This weekend, Team Aylezo will once again be part of the GT Asia Series as the Technical Partner to OD Racing. The team is at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand for the season finale, one that will see 22 cars competing at the 4.55km circuit.
Last month, the Aylezo crew showed their mettle during the GT Asia Series penultimate weekend at the Shanghai International circuit, overcoming the seemingly impossible by working together to bring the car across the finish line. A series of bad luck cost the team one DNF but they managed to bounce back to finish race 2 collecting vital points for the Championship.
“The last outing was the toughest race that we have ever faced. It started with vibrations in the car during practice, then followed by a massive puncture that caused damage to the rear of the car right as we were on the way out to the grid on the first race. The Aylezo crew made quick work of the damage and got us to start from the pit in time. Then at the end of that race, we suffered another blow when the car could not stop in time due to a front left puncture and I ended up driving into one of the McLarens at the turn.” said Aylezo driver, Zen Low.
“What the guys did overnight was nothing short of amazing and we got onto the grid for the race on Sunday and finished it in points! It was just a phenomenal job that allowed us as drivers the confidence to push the car through the race.” he ended.
At the end of the race in Shanghai, the team celebrated just as much as the winning team as it was an outstanding result after having just one night to piece the car back together after the first race.
The team arrived in Thailand on Monday afternoon and set forth for a long week of set-up after the issues cropped up in Shanghai. The crew are in high spirits and are looking forward to end the season on a high note, after a troubled end of the year.
“I have to say, it was an interesting year and it was not an easy one. For me, it was my transition year as it is my first full year competing in a GT car and coming from single seaters it was quite a different experience. I’ve truly enjoyed racing the Lamborghini, it is a good car to race in. Aside from some bad luck and issues we faced, the year was a fruitful one and one that I hope I will be able to better in future” said Fairuz Fauzy, Aylezo driver.
“I am looking forward to Thailand, the circuit will be an interesting one to race at and I have heard nothing but good reviews about the circuit.” he ended.
The final two rounds of the GT Asia Series will be held at the Chang International Circuit this 24-25 October 2015 weekend. Qualifying scheduled to be held on Saturday, 24th October at 09:40am (local time) with race 1 scheduled later that day at 1:35pm. The final race of the 2015 season is scheduled for Sunday, 25th October at 3:15pm.
